December 26, 2007:
Massena firefighters responded with Engine
30 for a two car motor vehicle accident on
State Highway 37 shortly before 6:00 p.m.
Massena Rescue provided medical care to one
patient with Diabetic complications.
December 15, 2007:
Massena firefighters responded with Engine
28 and the tanker for a possible structure
fire with smoke visible at Hackett's store
in the St. Lawrence Center mall. The
call was upgraded and ET-1 as well as R-77
responded. Firefighter's on the roof
working with those inside the store
determined the cause of the smoke to be from
a belt in one of the heating units.
December 14, 2007:
Massena firefighters responded with Engine
30 for a reported chimney fire on Clarkson
Ave in the village. Upon arrival
flames were visible on the roof.
A ground ladder was deployed and a
combination of dry chemical agent in
conjunction with a chimney brush was used to
bring the fire under control.

Massena
Firefighter's Receive New Gear:
The Massena Fire Department recently was
able to purchase eleven sets of new turnout
gear as well as three portable radios valued
at $15,000 due to funding received from the
Town of Massena. Pictured above is the
new gear, all of which include a rescue
harness to assist in removing a downed
firefighter in an emergency situation.

December 2, 2007:
Massena firefighters responded at
approximately 3:30 p.m. for a reported barn
fire.
Mutual aid was
called for from Louisville, Helena,
Brasher-Winthrop, and Hogansburg. The
fire was brought under control in
approximately three hours as Massena
firefighters battled the blaze as well as
the weather.
November
18, 2007:
Massena firefighters responded late this
morning for a fire alarm activation at the
Massena Movieplex. Engine 28
responded. On entry firefighters
detected the odor of smoke and began to
search the area using a thermal imaging
camera. ET-1 (Aerial Ladder) responded
to provid firefighters with access to the
roof of the structure. The cause is
still being determined.

16, 2007:
Massena firefighters along with Louisville
Fire and Massena Rescue responded just
before 1:00 a.m. Friday morning for a
serious one car motor vehicle accident at
the intersection of County Route 43 and
State Route 131. Massena Engine 30 and
Louisville Engine 71 responded along with
Rescue 77 from Massena. The vehicle
occupant was extricated by Louisville Fire
and Massena Rescue. (More photos in

9, 2007:
Massena firefighters responded with Engine
28 for the report of smoke filling a home on
North Main Street.

2, 2007:
Massena firefighters responded along with
Massena Rescue and Police for a two car
motor vehicle accident at the intersection
of Main and Maple St. E-30 responded.

October
20, 2007: Massena
firefighters responded with one engine to a
motor vehicle accident on Route 420 just
before 1:00 a.m. Emergency crews
arrived to find one vehicle wrapped around a
tree on the northbound side of the road with
a single occupant trapped and unresponsive.
The victim was transported to the hospital
after being extricated from the vehicle by
Massena Rescue. Massena based State
Police investigated and subsequently charged
the driver with speed unreasonable,
uninspected vehicle, as well as Driving
while intoxicated.

October 14, 2007: Massena
Firefighters responded just after noon for a report of the smell of
smoke in the area of 284 East Orvis Street.
Subsequent reports indicated smoke coming
from the rear or the 284 Club. Engine
28, Engine 30, ET-1, and R-77 responded.
Entry to the building was made and
ventilation began to clear smoke from the
structure. A fire was discovered in
the basement and subsequently was extinguised. Damage was limited to the
basement of the structure. Fire
investigators were on scene to determine the
cause of the blaze. Images can be
